Bagged Trash Pickup
The colored bag system for residential trash pickup has been working well for several years now. Blue bags (for pick up from Independent Rural Waste Services, LLC,) and Yellow bags (for pick up from Republic Services) are available for purchase at the Dublin Store, Adams North Woods Lumber & Supply, the Irons EZ Mart (Blarney Castle gas station), Natahka Corner Store, and other locations. Continue to place your colored trash bags at the roadside on your own property for pickup. It's considered littering if you place them anywhere else.
We have had some inquiries about the availability of recycling services for plastic, glass, paper, and other materials. The Elk Township Board has been made aware of a Lake County Government exploratory committee looking into the feasibility and logistics of implementing a county wide system for recycling. While there are no formal plans in place at this time, there appears to be recognition of the need and desire for this service. We’ll keep you informed on the progress of this initiative.
