The Sauble-Elk-Eden Fire Chief has provided the following information for reporting flood damage to your property, or for further inquiry about how to report flood damage to the County Emergency Manager.

Elk Township Property Owners – Spring Junk Drop-off Day
Discarded furniture and mattresses by dumpsters in park.
Date: Saturday, May 30, 2026
Time: 9:00am – 12:00 Noon
Where: Skinner Park in Irons (5074 West 10 1/2 Mile Road, Irons, MI)
Bring: Your TAX STATEMENT as proof of Residency/Property ownership.

Items Accepted: Junk and debris generated from your residence only.
Scrap metal, carpets, mattresses, toilets, sinks, foam packaging, wood
items, plastic items, drywall, grills, electronics, chairs, sofas, and other
household items.
Note:
1) Automobile and Small Truck Tire Fee: $5.00/each
2) Semi & Tractor Tires: $20/each
3) Small loose items must be bagged or boxed (No shovel-off junk)

Items Not Accepted: Liquids, oil, antifreeze, paints, cleaning supplies,
lawn/garden chemicals, hazardous waste materials, dirt, adhesives,
concrete, cement chunks, or rocks.
Note:
1) No loose shingles or “shovel-off” materials
2) No contractor generated construction/demolition debris
3) No large loads (trailers limited to no larger than one 6’x10’ trailer

Free Smoke Detectors

Free smoke detectors for Sauble Elk Eden residents.

Sauble, Elk, and Eden Township Residents
SEEFD Fire Department has a limited supply of smoke detectors available for free.
Email your Full Name, Phone #, and Complete Address to Chief Boyer at: [email protected]

A SEEFD firefighter will call you to make an appointment to install the smoke detectors for you.

Winter 2025 tax bills will be mailed out by December 1, 2025

Just an FYI… Winter 2025 tax bills will be mailed out by December 1, 2025.  The due date is February 17, 2026.  If you have not received a tax bill for a property you own in Elk Township by mid-December, please call the Treasurer at: 231-266-5983 ext:2.  The last day to pay summer and/or winter property taxes at the Township is Monday March 2, 2026.  After March 2nd taxes must be paid to the County Treasurers office in Baldwin, MI.
