Independent Contractor Position.

Elk Township – Lakeview Cemetery Sexton.

The Cemetery Sexton shall be responsible for the orderly and lawful operation of the Lakeview Cemetery to include the following duties:

1. Assist the Clerk with identifying available burial sites.
2. Supervise opening and closing of graves (both full-burial and cremations) to complete interment.
3. Assisting individuals and families by directing them to locations of burial sites during burial service.
4. Set up and removal of graveside chairs and canopy for interment attendees.
5. Report any cemetery ordinance violations to the Township Ordinance Enforcement Officer including actions taken relative to any violation.
6. Prepare an annual request for funds to cover materials and maintenance supplies, and for capital improvement projects prior to the Elk Township Board’s Annual Budget Workshop.
7. Coordinate any additional labor associated with assignments for the upkeep of the cemetery as approved by the board.
8. Other work activities as requested by the township board.
9. Oversight and evaluation of the cemetery sexton’s work shall be the responsibility of the Elk Township Board with the sexton reporting to the township supervisor.
